La capital de Dinamarca, Copenhague, es ciudad de bicicletas, sinónimo de sostenibilidad y diseño. Normalmente siempre preparo un itinerario en mis viajes para saber más o menos que visitar, pero esta vez tuve una semana de trabajo frenética y fuimos a la aventura. Hay muchas maneras de descubrir una ciudad, y a veces perderse por sus calles y visitar estaciones remotas te llevan a descubrir lugares que no aparecen en ninguna guía y que hacen las delicias de mi cámara (y de mi Instagram). Esta vez nos dedicamos a vivir la ciudad, a mezclarnos con su gente, visitar bares locales y por supuesto a practicar lo que se conoce como “hygge“.
Os preguntaréis que significa esa palabreja tan rara que ahora está tan de moda. Nada más lejos de la realidad, cualquier cosa y/o actividad que te haga sentir bien, en eso consiste “hygge”. Mi visión particular de “hygge” (que se pronuncia “hooga”) es estar un día soleado en una terraza tomándote una cerveza fresquita con gente que quieres, es darte una ducha de agua caliente tras llegar empapado a casa porque te ha pillado el chaparrón y estas calada de frío hasta los huesos o es dormir en sábanas recién lavadas y rociar aroma de lavanda en tu almohada antes de irte a dormir. Hay muchas maneras de “hygge”, ¿cuál es la tuya?
Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, is synonymous of sustainability and design. I normally prepare a travel itinerary to know more or less what to visit, but this time I had an hectic week at work and I couldn´t do any previous research. There are many ways to discover a city, and sometimes getting lost in its streets lead you to discover places that do not appear in any guide and are perfect to take shots with my camera. This time we explored the city, we mingled with its people, we visited local bars and of course we practiced what is known as “hygge“.
Probably you will be wondering what means that strange little word that sounds so fashionable. Hygge is anything that makes you feel good. My particular view of “hygge” (pronounced as “hooga”) is being in a terrace drinking a cold beer with people you love on a sunny day, is having a shower after getting home soaked on a rainy day, is going to sleep in a bed with freshly washed sheets… There are many ways to “hygge”, which one is yours?
Alquilamos un apartamento Airbnb en el distrito de Valby, muy bien comunicado con la estación Central, cerca de zonas verdes, supermercados, bares, restaurantes y del centro comercial Spinderiet (100% recomendable). El apartamento estaba genial, muy moderno, acogedor…muy “hygge” y nuestro anfitrión Mike estuvo pendiente de nosotros en todo momento.
We rent an Airbnb apartment in the district of Valby, very well connected to the Central Station, close to green areas, supermarkets, bars, restaurants and the Spinderiet shopping center (100% recommendable). The apartment was great, very modern, cozy … very “hygge” and our host Mike was available at all times. 
Nos dimos un paseo desde Nyhaven (las casitas de colores) hasta Churchill Park, pasando por la base Militar Kastellet. Tuvimos la suerte de ver el ensayo de caballería, y los militares me permitieron acercarme a los caballos para hacer fotos. El ensayo es digno de ver, creo que fue una de mis atracciones favoritas, pues siento una gran pasión por estos animales desde pequeña. Después nos dimos un paseo hasta la famosa Sirenita. Paramos a tomar algo en Pancake Queen, donde el dueño fue muy amable con nosotros y la comida estaba buenísima. Estuvimos tan agusto que en la sobremesa nos tomamos unos waffles con chocolate y fresas antes de continuar nuestra ruta del día. El día fue de desfiles, pues cuando llegamos al palacio Amalienborg, también estaban haciendo un cambio de guardia y tuvimos la suerte de verlo.
We walked from Nyhaven (the colorful houses) to Churchill Park, passing by the Kastellet Military base. We were lucky enough to see the cavalry, and I was close enough to the horses to take close pictures. I think this was one of my favorite attractions, because I have a great passion for these animals since my childhood. Then we took a walk to see the famous Little Mermaid. We stopped for lunch at Pancake Queen, where the owner was very kind to us and the food was amazing. We also had some waffles with chocolate and strawberries before continuing our route of the day. We were lucky, because when we arrived at Amalienborg palace, there were a changing of the guard and we were there to see it!
Otro parque donde dar un paseo e incluso comer en el césped es el que rodea el Castillo de Rosenborg. Nos hizo un tiempo fantástico este día, así que estuvimos disfrutando de los rayos de sol mientras saboreamos dulces de la pastelería danesa por excelencia Ole & Steen Lagkagehuset.
Another park where to stroll about and have a snack on the lawn is the one that surrounds Rosenborg Castle. We had a fantastic weather this day, so we enjoyed the sunshine while eating some cakes from the Danish patisserie Ole & Steen Lagkagehuset. 
En nuestro último día visitamos Værnedamsvej, una pequeña calle llena de cafeterías, restaurantes y tiendas situada entre Vesterbro y Frederiksberg conocida como el “París” de Copenhague. Recomiendo Dyrehaven para cenar y tomar algo, sitio local muy moderno en el que te sientes como uno más y con precios muy asequibles.
On our last day we visited Værnedamsvej, a small street full of cafes, restaurants and shops located between Vesterbro and Frederiksberg known as the “Paris” of Copenhagen. I recommend Dyrehaven for having dinner and drinks, very modern local place where you feel like one more and with very affordable prices.
No puedes irte de esta ciudad sin visitar el enigmático barrio de Christiania, donde no hay leyes y es gobernada por sus propios habitantes. Tienen prohibido hacer fotografías…aún así pude sacar algunas en zonas permitidas bajo el escrutinio de sus habitantes, ¡tenéis que verlo!
P.D. No os olvidéis de llevar billetes de coronas danesas antes de viajar a Copenhague.
You can´t miss the enigmatic neighborhood of Christiania, where there aren´t laws and is ruled by its own inhabitants. It is forbidden to take pictures…however I still managed to take some shots, you have to see it!
P.S. Do not forget to change the currency to Danish krone before travelling to Copenhague.
